a summer wishlist

dress - river island, top + shorts - topshop, sunglasses - asos

Without being typically British, how nice has the last week been? I absolutely love summer, it's my favourite season by far, and I can't wait for it to arrive properly. Providing that's not our summer for the year gone! The little snippet of sun has had me noticing that my wardrobe is definately not summer appropriate, so I thought I'd do a wishlist that would bring it up to date.

One thing about my wardrobe is that theres not much colour involved, and I really want to change that. I wear a lot of black, so I thought this topshop top would inject a bit of happiness. I'm not sure if yellow is a colour I can pull of though! I really love the colour of these shorts, nudes are another of my favourite colours, and I think they'd go with so much. I think the dress is a lovely basic dress that could be worn so easily. I love simple outfits! Finally some sunglasses. I have bad luck with sunglasses (and all technology, but less about that..), and go through several pairs per summer. These are definately my favourite style, and I need some new ones as soon as!

What's on your summer wishlist?

it's a little bit funny

top - international, shorts - asos

Evening everyone! I actually quite like this outfit. I've not been very impressed with what I've been wearing lately, serious lack of creativity, but I love these colours together. I never shop in International but for some reason I went in and found this beauty of a top. Bargain at £7! Paired with my trusty shorts that never seem to leave me.

Yesterday I had an exciting interview in Headingly, and in true Dan style I was an hour and 40 mins early. I am actually incapable of being late! Wandering around I came across a cafe which had the best brownies ever! No joke. It's probably a good job I'm not up there more often to be honest. Today has been spent chilling out and watching Doctor Who on iplayer. Anyone else insanely excited about the next series or just me?

Hope everyone's had a good weekend!

Radio 1's longest ever show

For everyone who's not heard (I didn't think that was possible, however it was proven to me a few minutes ago on the phone to my dad), Chris Moyles is attempting to stay on air for 52 hours all in aid of Comic Relief.

I don't know about anyone else, but there is absolutely no way I'd ever be able to do that! I find it difficult to stay up past midnight haha! Now I really like Chris Moyles, although I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about him. You can't deny that what he's doing is amazing though! The total money raised is around £670,000 so far, since only half 6 yesterday morning. What's just as amazing though is the way he doesn't sound any different at all, he's still just as funny and entertaining as always, even after 32 hours on air.

Comic Relief does some truely amazing work, and I always make sure to donate. If you want to help text Chris to 70011.

this time no

dress - topshop, cardigan - newlook, tights - marks & spencers

I'm not gonna lie, this wwas taken last week before I caught the cold of doom.. I've literally not slept for a week, and really want it to go now. I'm heading in to uni today anyway, hopefully it'll tire me out and I'll sleep tonight.

I've eaten so much crap recently, I really need to start being healthy again! This was not helped when me and my boy found a cafe that sells the best sticky toffee buns ever the other day. Seriously so good! If your in Leeds its that little one inside the Merrion outside Morrisons. I joined a gym a few months ago, but it's only opening in April, so can't wait to get started there! Since I quit the gym I was at when I moved to Uni, I've actually missed it.

Almost half way through the week!

small update

It's been a while! I don't really have a reason, just a mixture of being busy and now I'm ill. I really hate being ill, and yes I'm one of those annoying people who spend the whole time they're ill moaning about it. I just really hate how it gets in the way of everything! I had to miss Uni today as I really couldn't go in, and I hate doing that. Spending a day in bed might sound good, but I just get bored! I also have a severe lack of food. Not good! You know how much I like food..

So, having a lack of things to blog about, I want to point you in the direction of this post a little perspective. I think it highlights everything I've been feeling recently, and is something every girl should read.

Now I have the exciting task of reapplying to student finance...don't you all want to be me!

maybe i'm amazed

dress - topshop cardigan - h&m tights - primark

How nice has the weather been recently! Literally can't believe it, so warm. Had a pretty good day today. The business school have activity week this week, and as half of my modules are business ones I get an easy week! I had a seminar then met the boy for cinema and pizza express times! We went watching Gnomeo + Juliet, I've been wanting to watch it for ages. I love animated films, such a kid! Pizza Express, well what's there to say about that really! I had a Monte Carlo, beautiful.

Who had pancakes last night? I think that would be most people. We made raspberry and white chocolate ones, I'm not even joking when I say they're the nicest pancakes I've ever had. I'm tempted to make some more tonight actually..
Anyone get the ASOS vouchers off Groupon today? I got one and so did my boyfriend, so I have two. Don't know what to get, how's everyone spending theirs?

'You're interested in WHAT?'

When asked about my hobbies and interests I often struggle to answer. ‘I’m interested in clothes’ doesn’t feel like something I should be broadcasting. Surely ‘I enjoy researching into the history of England’ or ‘ I spend a lot of time sewing and crafting things’ or ‘I’ve been playing the piano for 7 years’ sounds much more interesting. But no, I’m into fashion. I was never on any sports teams at school, I don’t play any musical instruments, and I’m not particularly politically minded. I enjoy reading and cooking, but doesn’t everyone?
Fashion is a major part of my life, so why do I still feel like it’s not a valid interest? That people will look down their noses, at me, and make assumptions about my personality, namely along the materialistic lines. Fashion is an interest, and not to mention a career, for many people, yet it can still be viewed as something not worthwhile.
Fashion is something that can pull people together, whether through common likes or friendly debates and differences. A way to bridge the gap between people, a conversation starter. A way to express yourself, and get creative with the way you’re presented. Fashion can say something words can’t. There’s more to it than wanting pretty things. What else can give someone the confidence to feel good with themselves?
I’ve recently felt this view on fashion when discussing what job I’d love when finishing University. I’m currently doing a PR degree, and if I could choose any area of PR to work in, it would be fashion. Somehow, I get the feeling that this is frowned upon. There is a lot of emphasis put on other areas, such as public affairs and corporate, which leaves me feeling as if my hopes are being brushed aside in favour of others more acceptable. It seems as if fashion is something just not to be mentioned.
I love everything about fashion. I adore strolling through shops and imagining how I’d wear different pieces, and I could spend hours flicking through magazines and admiring all the work that’s gone into creating the looks and images. The background and influences of different looks fascinates me. There’s just something about it that you can get lost in.
Maybe fashion isn’t the most intellectual of interests, but from now on I’m going to declare it with pride. With Vogue in one hand, and ASOS open on the laptop.

if I was a rich girl..

I would literally buy half of Urban Outfitters! Here's a couple of things I'm liking at the minute.

This dress is so lovely! I love the colour, I don't have anything that colour. I also think it's the perfect summer dress, with bare legs and sandals.

I want the cardigan purely for the colour! I had this cardigan in blue, and really like the shape, but I've been looking for one this colour for ages.

What can I say about this shirt! It's pretty much the perfect shirt for me, with the ribbon and the collar. I want so much!

I love the tights. I don't own many patterned tights, even though I really like them, as I always rip them. Plain black can get a bit boring though, and I love the way a simple stripe can make them look so much more interesting.

What are you wanting at the minute?

Hello March

Yes, It's now the 2nd of March, but what can you do! I'm gonna do a little summary of February, and then pick my March Goals (also, how quick has this yeae gone?! I really can't believe it).

I'm afraid I didn't do too well with my goals this month! I did well with saving money, and think I ended up with around £60, so £20 above my target. I also sorted out my flat for next year! So very excited about that one, I want it now. The other 2 I pretty much failed on..The day trip once again didn't happen. Lame excuse, but I just couldn't find the time! I've got a day with my boyfriend sorted out for Friday though, so it should finally happen. The other goal I didn't complete was helping three strangers. That was a tough one! I was never in a situation where I could help really.

Goals for March1. Go running 3 times
2. Do 2 pieces of writing
3. Book in for a haircut

To be honest I feel like my February was kind of a nothing month..Nothing special happened, and it's kind of just gone. I did a couple of things with my boyfriend (pizza express, he cooked me a meal, nice walk) and I got some good results back at Uni, but thats about it. I hope March will be better!
