When the cold weather hits, is there anything better than a thick, rich hot chocolate? I'm not a coffee drinker, so when the autumn/winter drinks come around it's hot chocolate all the way for me, and I usually make it my mission to try as many festive flavours as possible. This year I decided to experiment with making my own, and *big claim alert* I think it might just be the best hot chocolate I've ever had. It isn't just me who thinks it either, it was actually Tom who said it first.
Chocolatey, warming and a kick of spice from the cinnamon. Perfection!
180g good quality 75% dark chocolate
300ml full fat milk
1tsp brown sugar
1tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cinnamon sticks
Cinnamon for sprinkling
Add chocolate, milk, sugar, vanilla essence, ground cinnamon and one cinnamon stick to a large pan, and melt slowly on a medium heat, stirring regularly. Once melted, turn up the heat slightly and keep warming until hot. Serve with whipped cream, remaining cinnamon stick and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It could not be easier!
This is literally my perfect hot chocolate. What would you put in yours?
